52 Weeks of Lists – Week 30
52 Weeks of Lists – Week 30 is all about getting outdoors and enjoying time outside.
Outdoor Adventures!
Do you live near a state or national park and enjoy their trails? Do you live in the city and find walking around exciting? Or do you live in a neighborhood and take leisurely walks there?
What are some places you’ve enjoyed walking around? Take a few minutes to think what would be on your 52 Week of Lists – Week 30 – Favorite Hikes and Walks! Here’s some ideas to get you started!
Back to Nature!
When it comes to walking and hiking, I have a few favorite trails that always come to mind. Living close to nature has its perks, and I’m fortunate to be within driving distance of several beautiful state and national parks. One of my go-to spots is Shenandoah National Park. Spanning over 105 miles from Waynesboro to Front Royal Virginia, the park offers a diverse range of landscapes, from dense forests to open meadows. Each hike feels like a new adventure.
Close to Home!
For those days when I can’t make it out to the mountains, I enjoy walking around my neighborhood. There’s something incredibly relaxing about taking a leisurely stroll, greeting neighbors, and enjoying the well-kept gardens and tree-lined streets. It’s a great way to clear my mind and get some fresh air without having to travel far.
Weekend Adventures!
On weekends, I love exploring the city. Urban walking has its own charm, with bustling streets, historical landmarks, and hidden gems waiting to be discovered. There’s always something new to see, whether it’s a quaint café tucked away in an alley or a beautifully preserved piece of architecture that tells a story of the past. I also enjoy exploring the “old town” environments of cities in the surrounding counties. These areas often have a unique blend of history and modernity, offering a fascinating glimpse into the local culture and heritage. The cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and vibrant markets make for an enriching and enjoyable experience.
Heading Out Further a Field!
I’ve also had the chance to hike in some incredible places on day adventures. I “saw a family friend off” on the next leg of his hike on the Appalachian Trail, starting at Harper’s Ferry. Tigger and I made a round trip on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Trail portion of the Appalachian Trail. We only did a little over 5 miles total, and both the pup and I were worn out! We’re working on building up our stamina so we can go on some road trips and experience longer hikes.
Whether it’s a rugged mountain trail, a peaceful neighborhood walk, or an exciting urban adventure, there’s something special about getting outside and exploring on foot. Walking and hiking not only provide physical exercise but also offer a chance to connect with nature, clear your mind, and discover new places. So, lace up your shoes and get out there to enjoy the beauty around you!
Happy hiking!
