‘A Year with My Camera – January – 1 Day 12 Pics’ is a wonderful method to capture one day of my life every month. It acts as a visual diary, reflecting the essence of each day. This not only helps me appreciate the beauty of everyday moments, but also shows how the unique aspects of each month contribute to the overall narrative of my year.

A Year with My Camera

A Year With My Camera” is a brilliant course created by Emma Davies that takes you on a journey through the world of photography over the span of a year. It’s designed for beginners and intermediate photographers who want to enhance their skills. The course covers all necessary aspects of photography, including composition, lighting, and editing. It also provides weekly assignments which are perfect for gradual learning and practice. The community is incredibly supportive and the constructive feedback I received is invaluable.

What is 1 Day 12 Pics?

Another great photography project I participate in is “1 Day 12 Pics.” On a chosen day each month, usually the first Saturday, the idea is to take one photo every hour for twelve consecutive hours. This project is a fantastic way to fine-tune your observation skills. It encourages me to look for beauty and interesting compositions in my everyday surroundings. The challenge of capturing my day in twelve images pushes me to think creatively and look at my environment from new perspectives.

Since I find taking a photo every hour challenging, I usually take a several photos throughout the day until I have twelve. Quite often I will chose I specific topic such as “Around the Yard” and take pictures of miscellaneous things that catch my attention that goes with my theme.

January’s Theme

January my photo theme is “First Winter Storm”. The weather forecast was for at least 4” of snow. Instead we got rain, freezing rain and maybe an inch of snow. My little Florida pup Tigger didn’t know what to make of the cold, wet stuff on the ground.

My photos for this day show how the first winter storm looked. The photos also tell the story of how Tigger, Litten and I spend our time on wet, cold days during the winter. After exploring outside for a bit, Tigger decided he preferred being inside warm than outside where it’s cold. Litten and I also prefer the warmth of indoors.

Stay tuned for next month when I document the next segment of ‘A Year With My Camera – 1 Day 12 Pics’. I’m eager to discover what the theme for February will be.

Let me know what your January looked like in the comments below. I would love to hear from you!
