Chocolate + Crock-pot = Cake!
What’s NOT to Like!
I love crock-pot recipes. I love chocolate recipes. I love cake. It stands to reason I would really LOVE a recipe that has all three!
I’ve baked cakes before. Plenty of cakes. In the oven. Not in a crock-pot. This is definitely new for me.
The idea of being able to bake an ooey, gooey, chocolatey cake that is quick and easy to make is just the recipe for me! How awesome is it to be able to throw ingredients together in a crock-pot, walk away to do other things then in a couple of hours, have a delicious dessert.
Today is National Chocolate Day. Chocolate earns its day of honor by being America’s favorite flavor. Celebrate it by giving this decadent chocolate cake a try!
Slow-Cooker Chocolate Lava Cake
Ingredients
Cake
- 1 box super moist triple chocolate fudge cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 eggs
Topping
- 1 box (4-serving size) instant chocolate pudding and pie filling mix
- 2 cups milk
- 1 bag (12 oz) milk chocolate chips (2 cups)
Steps
In a large bowl, beat cake ingredients together with an electric mixer.
Pour into a slow cooker lined with parchment paper.
Cook on low for 1 hour.
To prevent condensation from dripping down onto cake, place a folded, clean dish towel under cover of cooker.
Cook cake for about 1/2 hour to an hour or until the cake is partially firm.
In a medium bowl, beat the pudding mix and 2 cups milk with a whisk. Pour into the slow cooker over the cake batter. Do Not Mix.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
I used dark chocolate chips for a more decadent flavor.
Cover. Cook on Low heat setting for another 1 1/2 hours or until the cake is set and the pudding is begging to bubble out of the cake.
Serve with ice cream.
Absolutely delicious!!
It’s an easy dessert to make and would be a great ending at a family dinner.
