DIY Cute & Quick Wooden Sign
Are you interested in adding some cute decor to your home without spending too much? You’re in luck! Check out this adorable and easy-to-make wooden sign. This project is perfect for anyone who wants to give their space a little something extra without spending a ton. And the best part is that it’s so simple, even kids can join in on the fun!
Materials –
- 12 x 12 Wooden Panel – I got mine from Dollar Tree
- Stain – color of your choice
- Chalk paint – color of your choice
- Sponge brush, 1” Natural Bristle Flat Paint Brush and a rag
- Modge Podge
- 12 x 12 calendar page – I got mine from Dollar Tree
- Parchment paper
- Iron – I used the Cricut Easy Press Mini but a regular house hold iron works
- Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks
- Ribbon & Greenery
- Picture Hanger – optional
Stain the 12 x 12 wooden panel using a sponge brush. Wipe off excess stain with a rag. Let dry.
Pour a small amount of chalk paint onto a paper plate or heavy paper. Lightly dip the flat paint brush into the paint then dab off the excess paint. Dry brush onto the stained panel to give a distressed look. Let dry.
Pour mod podge onto a paper plate or heavy paper then spread an even layer onto the wood panel using a sponge brush. Allow to dry.
If your greenery and ribbon won’t hide the “hanging hole” trim the page then position on the wooden panel in the center.
Cover with parchment paper and iron until the mod podge melts and adheres the calendar page. Allow to cool.
Seal wood panel with a thin coat mod podge. If there are bubbles in the calendar page after drying, cover with parchment paper and iron flat. The bubbles happen if the mod podge layer is too thick but it’s an easy fix!! Let dry.
Apply ribbon and flower to top of panel using a hot glue gun.
Attach a picture hanger to the back if desire.
Hang & enjoy!!

Tips for Success
While this project is relatively simple, there are a few tips that can help ensure success:
- Use a thin coat of Modge Podge to avoid bubbles in the calendar page.
- Be sure to let each layer dry completely before moving on to the next step.
