Create your very own decorative glass cutting boards using simple materials you may already have at home. What’s great about this project? It’s budget and kid friendly!!
Let’s Do This!
Supplies
- 1 Dollar Tree Glass Cutting Board
- 1 Fabric Square
- Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge
- Paint Brush & Foam Brush
- Scrapper or Brayer
- Iron or Mini Press
- Sheet of Parchment Paper
- Rotary Cutter & Mat or Scissors
Steps
Begin by removing the rubber feet from the back of the glass cutting board and set them aside. We’ll reattach them later.
Apply Mod Podge
Using a paint brush or sponge, spread a layer of dishwasher safe Mod Podge over the back of the cutting board. Allow it to dry completely before moving to the next step.
Cut your fabric square so that it is approximately ½ inch wider than the cutting board on all sides. The extra fabric will make sure the edges are completely covered.
Attach the Fabric
Lay the fabric face down on the Mod Podge-coated side of the cutting board. Place a sheet of parchment paper on top of the fabric. Using a mini press or an iron, heat the fabric until it adheres to the cutting board. Pay extra attention to the edges to make sure the fabric is securely glued to the board.
Use a scraper or a brayer to smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles in the fabric. This will ensure a smooth finish.
Seal the Fabric
Apply a light, even coat of Mod Podge over the fabric, making sure to seal the edges well. Smooth out any wrinkles or bubbles. Allow it to dry completely.
Use a pair of scissors or rotary cutter and mat to cut away excess fabric, matching edges of cutting board.
Reattach the Rubber Feet
Dab a small amount of Mod Podge on the back of the cutting board. Attach the rubber feet and place a heavy pan on top of the cutting board to ensure that they adhere properly. Allow the Mod Podge to dry.
Once everything is dry, your decorative glass cutting board is ready to use. Enjoy your new, personalized addition to your kitchen!
