Trim canvas to a size smaller than frame.

Stain / paint the frame with your chosen color. Wipe off excess stain with rag. Let it dry completely.

Tape white tissue paper to printer paper and print clip art or photo onto tissue paper. Remove tissue paper from printer paper and trim to desired size.

Apply mod podge to canvas where the photo will be placed. Let dry.

Place tissue paper on canvas at the desired location. Cover with parchment paper and heat using a Mini Press or an iron.

Open the “Happy Easter” design in Design Space. Be sure to mirror your design before cutting when using heat transfer vinyl.

Once your design is cut, weed the excess htv and apply transfer vinyl. Position it on the canvas. Use an iron or EasyPress to adhere the vinyl to the canvas. Peel off the transfer vinyl.

Now it’s time to create the “reverse canvas” effect. Use a staple gun to attach the fabric to the back of the wooden frame. Be sure to pull the fabric taut as you staple it.

Finally, add any additional embellishments you desire, such as a ribbon or bow.

Attach picture hanging hardware to back of frame.

Hang & enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • If you want to make your sign more durable, you can use Mod Podge to seal the vinyl and canvas after painting and adhering the vinyl.
  • If you don’t have a Cricut or other cutting machine, you can use stencils or freehand paint your design onto the canvas.
  • To make your sign more unique, you can add additional elements, such as glitter or rhinestones, to give it some extra sparkle.
  • If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try using different textures or fabrics for your reverse canvas, such as burlap or linen.
  • You can use hot glue or fabric glue to attach the fabric to the back of the wooden frame if you don’t have a staple gun.
