DIY Vapor Rub Shower Bombs

Vapor Rub Shower Bombs – who knew? Bath bombs seem to be the latest trend for relaxing in the tub, but what about shower bombs, specifically for allergy and cold relief?

Several years ago, I found allergy and cold relief tablets at a store. They worked well, but they were so big that unless I took an hour-long shower, the tablet would turn into a gooey mess in the bathtub. So, I stopped using them.

Fast forward to the present-day bath bomb craze. With all the DIY bath bomb recipes available, I figured there must be a way to make shower bombs too. As someone who suffers from severe allergies, the idea of making my own shower tablets is very appealing!

So, I experimented with different methods and ingredients until I found one that works! With only 4 ingredients these shower bombs are super easy and quick to make!

Let’s Do This!

  • 3 tablespoons of vapor rub (approximately 1.76 oz)
  • 1 cup of corn starch
  • 5 tablespoons of water
  • Silicone Mold

Press the paste into your ice cube tray. If you have a regular-sized ice tray, fill each well halfway. Pack the mixture in well and place in the freezer for two hours to help solidify the cubes quickly.

When your vapor rub shower cubes have solidified, they are ready for use.

Pop one out and place it in a shallow dish on the floor of the shower before you hop in. The warm water will break it down, and in no time, the vapors will do their thing. Putting the cubes in a shallow dish or near the drain will help keep your shower floor from getting slick and prevents injury from a fall!

When you aren’t using the cubes, you can freeze them or place them in an airtight container. This recipe makes just over a dozen half-sized cubes.

Benefits of Vapor Rub Shower Bombs

Vapor rub shower bombs are a great alternative to traditional medications for allergy and cold relief. They are easy to make, and the ingredients are readily available. The vapor rub in the shower bombs helps to clear up nasal congestion and relieve coughing. The corn starch helps to absorb excess moisture and prevent the mixture from becoming too gooey.

The shower bombs can be customized to your liking by adding essential oils, such as eucalyptus or peppermint, for additional aromatherapy benefits. The blue food coloring in the recipe is optional but adds a nice touch to the appearance of the shower bombs.

Other Uses for Shower Bombs

Shower bombs aren’t just limited to allergy and cold relief. You can make shower bombs for other purposes as well, such as relaxation, stress relief, and skincare. By adding different essential oils and ingredients, you can create a variety of shower bombs to suit your needs.

For example, lavender essential oil is known for its calming properties and can be added to a shower bomb for relaxation purposes. Tea tree oil is great for acne-prone skin and can be added to a shower bomb for a quick and easy skincare treatment.

DIY vapor rub shower bombs are a great way to relieve allergy and cold symptoms quickly and easily. They are inexpensive to make, and the ingredients are readily available. By customizing the shower bombs to your liking, you can create a variety of shower bombs for different purposes.
