Easy Envelope Pillow Cover – Comfy Cozy!

Decorating for different seasons and holidays can be a lot of fun, but it can also be time-consuming and expensive. That’s why I love the Envelope Pillow Covers! They’re quick and easy to make, and they can change the look and feel of a room in seconds! In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make your own easy envelope pillow cover with just a few basic sewing supplies.

I love decorating for the different seasons and holidays! Pillow covers make it easy to do.

Being able to do a quick change out of decorations always catches my interest.

Envelope Pillow Cover

Materials –

  • 1 yd fabric
  • 18” x 18” pillow form
  • Thread
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Sewing Machine

For front cut one 18” x 18” square and for the back cut two 14” x 18” rectangles.

Finish one 18” edge by serging or zig-zagging on both 14” x 18” rectangles.

Press finished edges 1-inch and sew hem. Press.

Lay back piece on table right side facing up with the overlapped edge facing up. Lay front panned right side down on top of back piece matching edges. Pin.

Mark diagonal stitches lines across corners.

Stitch front and back pieces together using a 1/2” seam allowance. Then stitch across corners on diagonal markings.

Turn and poke out corners using a bamboo skewer or a turner being careful not to poke a hole in the fabric.

Press seams and corners.

Insert 18” pillow form into pillow cover and enjoy!!!

Easy Envelope Pillow Cover

A quick change pillow cover to give you an easy update to any room!

Materials

  • 1 yd fabric
  • 18” x 18” pillow form
  • Thread

Tools

  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Sewing Machine

Instructions

  1. Pre-wash fabric. Press.
  2. For front cut one 18” x 18” square and for the back cut two 14” x 18” rectangles.
  3. Finish one 18” edge by serging or zig-zagging on both 14” x 18” rectangles.
  4. Press finished edges 1-inch and sew hem. Press.
  5. Lay one 18” x 14” piece on table right side down. Lay the second 14” x 18” piece on first one right side down with hemmed edges overlapping by 10” creating an 18” x 18” square. Pin seam allowances.
  6. Baste pieces together. Press.
  7. Lay back piece on table right side facing up with the overlapped edge facing up. Lay front panned right side down on top of back piece matching edges. Pin.
  8. Mark diagonal stitches lines across corners.
  9. Stitch front and back pieces together using a 1/2” seam allowance. Stitch across corners on diagonal markings.
  10. Trim corners.
