Add Spark to Your Décor
Decorating your home is all about making it feel like your own personal space, and one way to achieve that is by adding unique and personal touches. 4 x 4 wood decorative firecrackers are a creative way to add some spark to your home décor. These firecrackers are not only simple and easy to make, but they’re also budget-friendly. Whether you want to add a patriotic touch to your home or simply want to add some fun to your space, these firecrackers are the perfect DIY project to tackle.
Let’s Do This!!
Supplies
- 4 x 4 post – cut 4″, 6″ & 8″ sections
- Sanding Block
- Red, White, Blue and Medium Brown Acrylic Paint
- Foam Brushes & Foam Dabber
- 1″ Painter’s Tape
- Cricut, Design Space & Accessories
- Dollar Tree temporary vinyl
- Miniwax Polycrylic Clear Matte
- 1/2″ jute twine
- Drill
- Glue gun & glue sticks
Use a sanding block to smooth cut edges and sides of the 4 x 4 sections.
Paint 4″ and 6″ section with white acrylic paint. Let dry.
Tear off a small segment of 1″ painter’s tape and adhere to the 6″ section. Wrap another segment of painter’s tape completely around post.
Continue until there are “stripes” all the way to the bottom of the post making sure the edges of the tape adhere firmly.
Paint the post with red acrylic paint. Let dry.
Paint a second coat if needed. After the paint has completely dried, carefully remove the painter’s tape from the post.
Paint 8″ section with blue acrylic paint. Let dry.
Using Design Space create 1″ stars and cut out from the temporary vinyl using the Cricut. Weed excess vinyl from the stencil using the Cricut pick.
Adhere the star stencils in random locations on the 8″ post. Smooth down to make sure completely adhered.
Using a foam dabber, paint star stencils with white acrylic paint. Let dry. Paint a second coat. When completely dry carefully remove the star stencils.
Distress the posts using medium brown acrylic paint using a “dry” brush method. Let dry.
Seal posts with polycrylic. Let dry.
Find the center of block and mark.
Drill 1/2″ hole at a marked location.
Cut 1/2″ jute twine into 4″ sections and hot glue into the drilled hole
Display and enjoy!!

Americana Wood Firecrackers
Materials
