Steps

Start by painting your bamboo cutting board and wood crate with Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster. This creamy, neutral shade will give your project a fresh, vintage-inspired base. Allow the paint to dry completely.

To achieve that coveted farmhouse, timeworn vibe, distress both the cutting board and the crate with Waverly Chalk Paint in Truffle. Use a light hand, focusing on the edges and corners where natural wear would occur. Let the paint dry thoroughly.

Now comes the fun part—personalizing your sign! Use a Cricut Maker 3 to cut the phrase “Fresh Flower Market” from black permanent vinyl. If you don’t have a Cricut, a purchased stencil works perfectly too. Carefully decide where you want the phrase, then adhere the vinyl or stencil onto the cutting board.

Spread wood glue along one side of the crate, and for a quicker set, add a few drops of hot glue. Press the crate firmly to the base of the cutting board. Secure it in place with clamps and allow the glue to dry completely for a sturdy hold.

Measure a floral foam block so that it fits snugly inside the crate.

Cut it to size, then secure it in place.

Now, let your creativity blossom! Select your favorite floral picks—think tulips for spring, sunflowers for summer, or evergreens for winter—and arrange them artfully within the crate.

To turn your project into wall art, attach sign-hanging hardware to the back of the cutting board using a small hammer.

Your beautiful sign is now ready to hang on the wall or perch gracefully on a shelf, adding a cheerful, handmade accent to your decor.
