One Little Word – Explore – Embracing the Journey in 2026

One Little Word – Explore – Embracing the Journey in 2026

The Power of One Little Word

Every January, millions of us set resolutions, create vision boards, and make lists of goals. But for some, the approach is simpler—and more profound. Instead of a laundry list of resolutions, we choose One Little Word to guide us through the year. This word becomes a lens, a compass, and sometimes even a lifeline.

One Little Word

The One Little Word project, popularized by Ali Edwards, is all about intention. You pick a single word and let it shape your choices, your mindset, and your experiences throughout the year. It’s not about perfection—it’s about presence.

My Word – Explore

In 2025, my word was Explore. I had big plans: monthly prompts, journaling, creative projects, and adventures. But life had other ideas. Unexpected challenges popped up, and honestly? I didn’t follow through the way I imagined.

One Little Word

Here’s the thing: I could have abandoned the word and picked a shiny new one for 2026. But when I sat down to reflect, Explore still felt right. It’s the word that speaks to my soul right now. And who says I have to pick a new word every year? There are no rules here—just intention.

So, I’m continuing Explore into 2026. Why not? I’m super excited to see where this word takes me this year!

Why Explore?

One Little Word

Explore isn’t just about travel (though that’s part of it). It’s about curiosity. It’s about stepping outside my comfort zone, asking questions, and trying new things. It’s about exploring ideas, relationships, creativity, and even myself.

When I think about Explore, I imagine:

  • Exploring new hobbies (hello, cake decorating!)
  • Exploring nature (more hikes, more fresh air)
  • Exploring possibilities (fun classes, personal growth)
  • Exploring connection (deepening friendships, meeting new people)

Lessons from 2025

Last year taught me something important: choosing a word isn’t about perfection. It’s not about checking boxes or completing every prompt. It’s about holding space for growth.

Even though I didn’t follow through with all the monthly prompts, Explore still showed up in small ways:

  • I explored new recipes in my kitchen.
  • I explored mindfulness practices during stressful times.
  • I explored gratitude when life felt overwhelming.

How I’m Approaching 2026

This year, I’m giving myself permission to keep it simple. No pressure, no guilt—just intention. Here’s my plan:

  • Community Connection – I’ll share updates on social media and connect with others in the One Little Word community.
  • Monthly Check-Ins – Instead of following the prompts rigidly, I’ll adapt the prompts to help me reflect on how Explore showed up each month.
  • Creative Play – I’ll use art, journaling, and photography to capture my explorations.

Exploration Is a State of Mind

As I step into 2026, I’m reminding myself that exploration doesn’t require a passport or a big budget. It starts with a question: What can I discover today? Whether it’s a new trail, a new book, or a new perspective, every moment is an opportunity to explore.

Ready to Choose Your Word?

If you’ve never tried the One Little Word project, now’s the perfect time. Pick a word that feels right for you—one that sparks curiosity or comfort. Don’t overthink it. Just choose, and let it guide you.

And if you already have a word? Share it! I’d love to hear what word you’re embracing for 2026. Drop it in the comments or tag me on social media. Let’s explore this journey together!
