Tips for a Better Cupcake
If you want to take your Orange Blossom Cupcakes to the next level, here are a few tips:
- Use more orange zest, orange juice, or orange extract to give the cupcakes a stronger orange flavor.
- Sift flour prior to measuring using a flour sifter or a fine mesh strainer for lighter, airier cupcakes.
- Make sure your baking powder is still active. To do this:
- Place 1/2 teaspoon baking powder in a small bowl.
- Pour over 1/4 cup (65ml) boiling water.
- Still good – If it bubbles energetically as you pour, it’s still good. …
- Dead – If it doesn’t foam, then the baking powder is dead.
- Use fresh orange juice and zest. The flavor of the cupcakes will be greatly enhanced by using fresh ingredients. The flavor of the cupcakes will be greatly enhanced by using fresh ingredients.
- Let the batter rest for a few minutes before baking. This will help the cupcakes rise evenly and prevent them from sinking in the middle.
- Sift your confectioners’ sugar before adding it to the frosting to prevent any lumps.
- Be sure to let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting them to prevent the frosting from melting.
Additional Thoughts
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try adding a little bit of orange liqueur to the frosting. This will give it a more complex flavor and make it even more delicious.
