Pumpkin Season is Here!! – Fall Decor Craft
Pumpkin and Autumn go hand in hand! Pumpkin Lattes. Pumpkin Rolls. Pumpkin Patches. And Pumpkin Decor!
Mums, scarecrows, hay bales and pumpkins let us know the season is changing. The leaves are starting to turn to show their brilliant colors or red, orange and yellow showing us how beautiful it can be to let things go.
I love decorating for Fall. The vibrant colors of the season reminds me to be grateful for the glorious earth I live on.
Celebrating Pumpkin Season!

Frame
Detach canvas from frame using a flat head screw driver and needle nose pliers by removing the staples on the back.
Using a foam brush apply wood stain to frame. Wipe off excess using a rag. Let dry.
Distress the frame by dry brushing chalk paint with the natural bristle flat brush. Let dry.
Apply protective wood finish using a foam brush.
Canvas
Determine the location where you want to modge podge the napkin on the canvas. Mark.
Separate the napkin into two layers. Apply a layer of modge podge to the canvas and smooth napkin on top.
My first attempt at modge podging the napkin onto the canvas didn’t turn out very good. I applied the modge podge in a thick layer that was too thick and the napkin wouldn’t spread out smooth.
I removed a piece of canvas from another frame and did a second attempt. This time with much better results!
This time I used a thinner layer of modge podge and carefully laid the napkin on the canvas matching the edges with my marks.
Lay a piece of plastic wrap over the napkin and smooth out using a brayer. Let modge podge dry then remove the plastic wrap.
Spread another thin layer of modge podge over the napkin and let dry,
Cut the “Pumpkin Season” phrase out using a die cutting machine. I did the print then cut option to determine if the phrase was the size I wanted it. Cut the phrase out and weed out the parts of the vinyl that don’t belong. Make sure you select the mirror option.
Place design on canvas and cover with parchment paper. Apply heat press for the manufacturer recommended time. Since I used the mini press I kept moving the press over the design in circles for double the recommended time. Allow to cool for about 30 seconds then slowly peel the plastic off the phrase.
Finishing
Lay frame on canvas so the design is centered. Clip canvas to frame and turn over. I found two boards to lay the frame on to help keep the frame stable while stapling. Staple all sides of the canvas to the frame about 5/8” from the outer edge of the frame.
Cut excess canvas away and attach photo hanging hardware.
Hang your reverse canvas up and enjoy!
Make sure you show me your gorgeous modge podge reverse canvas signs! I would love to see them!
