Sew Along – McCall’s 7626 – Romper – Finished!
Welcome back! I’m glad you’re joining us for the Sew Along of McCall’s 7626 Romper.
I am excited to announce that this is the last session! This was a challenging project, but I hope you are as thrilled with the results as I am!
Just Joining us?
Head over to the Sew Along M7626 Romper page to catch up on past posts. I explain how to calculate your measurements, pattern ease, and the right pattern size for your romper along with creating a mock up and sewing the bodice.
I have an accompanying Sew Along McCall’s 7626 Romper Guide. This eight-page illustrated guide is full of tips to make your sewing experience effortless and enjoyable.
Let’s Finish This!
We’ve almost done! We’ve gotten the majority of the work completed for the romper. Now it’s time for the finishing touches.
In this session we’ll be inserting the invisible zipper. The zipper is the most “difficult” step of this session.
Then we’ll finish the shorts with either a hem or contrasting cuffs.
Zippers are “hit or miss” for me. I either insert them perfectly the first time or it’s takes me a couple times to get the zipper laying right.
The pattern instructions were a bit complicated for me. I ended up working the lining different than the pattern instruction directed. I pressed the edges under 5/8″.
Then I hand stitched the lining to the romper along the zipper and waistband.
I decided not to attach a hook & eye. After wearing several times I may decide to add it.
I wanted to add a bit of “pop” so I added cuffs using the lining fabric for contrast.
I’m super excited about how great this romper turned out. It’s super cute and fits great! I can’t wait to make the jumper and dress version of this pattern.
Don’t forget to finish up your Sew Along Guide questions. This will be a big help if you decide to make this pattern again.
My Thoughts –
The romper looks exactly like the pattern cover shows and I definitely will make this pattern again.
I’m going to look at the possibility of replacing the back zipper with a side zipper.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about this sew along. What you liked and what you think I could change to improve for the next sew along. And definitely let me know what pattern you would like for the next sew along project.
I’ve had a great time doing this sew along. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
