Three Little Pumpkins – Fall Decor Craft
Harvest Pumpkins
Autumn and pumpkins go hand in hand. What are fall decorations without pumpkins?
Here’s how you can make an easy harvest pumpkin decoration that will look awesome!!
Materials Needed –
- 3 Wooden Pumpkin
- Metal Word Sign
- Acrylic or Chalk Paint – 2 shades of orange (1 medium / 1 darker for shading) and medium brown
- 1/3″ & a round paint brushes
- Fast Drying Polyurethane Clear Sealer
- Foam Brushes
- 1/2″ ribbon
- Sunflower and pip berries
- Wood Glue and Superglue
- #530 Jute Twine & Upholstery Needle
- Clamps
- Glue gun and glue sticks
Remove the raffia bow and set aside.
Using the 1/3″ brush, paint the base of the pumpkin with the darker shade of orange then paint the upper layer with light orange. Use the round brush to shade edges of the top layer with the darker orange. Let dry. After paint dries use the round brush to touch up any spots missed.
I used Anita’s Acrylic 11140 Pumpkin and Apple Barrel 21472E Jack-o-lantern.
Seal by spreading a thin layer of polyurethane with a foam brush. Let dry.
Use medium brown paint to the stems. I used Apple Barrel 20558E Territorial Beige.
Hot glue the end of the twine to the back of the stem.
Wrap twine around the stem covering completely. Cut twine leaving about a 10″ tail. Thread upholstery needle with twine and weave twine under wrapped stem. Secure with a touch of hot glue.
Apply wood glue to the back of one of the pumpkins. Arrange the other two pumpkins and place the last pumpkin on top.
Cover with a paper towel or a cloth and weigh down with something heavy.
Cut about 18″ of twine and hot clue to the back of the pumpkins.
Tie three bows out of the 1/2″ ribbon. Hot glue the raffia bow, ribbon bow and sunflower to the bottom of the stem.
Glue the metal sign to the front of the pumpkins with superglue.
I love how easy and quick this project was. The best part, it looks great!!
