- Pumpkin Season Design or Fall Stencil
- Black Matte Permanent Vinyl & Transfer Tape
- Raffia

Step 1: Remove the Jute Hanger
Start by removing the jute rope hanger from your wood pumpkin if it already has one attached. Setting it aside now will make the painting and staining process much easier.
If the rope is permanently attached, simply work carefully around it during the staining process. Securing the rope to the back of the pumpkin using painter’s tape works great!
Step 2: Apply the Dark Walnut Stain
Using a foam brush, spread the Minwax Dark Walnut stain evenly across the pumpkin surface and all exposed edges.
Work in small sections to ensure consistent coverage. Once the stain has been applied, use a rag or paper towel to wipe away excess stain. This allows the natural wood grain to remain visible while creating a beautiful rustic finish.
Disposable gloves are recommended to prevent staining your hands.
Allow the stain to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 3: Paint the Pumpkin Body

- Using Cricut Design Space and your Cricut Maker or Explorer, cut your chosen Pumpkin Season design from black matte permanent vinyl. I used a cute Pumpkin Season I found in Design Space. If you don’t have a Cricut machine, you can also use a fall stencil and paint your sentiment directly onto the pumpkin surface.
